Going on a diet doesn't mean you have to stave off the drinks. in a five-year Danish study, scientists found that people who averaged one daily alcoholic drink were 18 per cent less likely to see their waistlines increase than teetotalers. 'Moderate drinking may stimulate a metabolic process that breaks down alcohol and produces heat, which could increase your calorie burn,' says study author Janne Tolstrup PhD.
